Across the globe, wildlife experts have documented real, terrifying encounters with victims who had zero warning. What makes these incidents so deeply unsettling isn’t just the snake itself, but where it appears: a space universally tied to privacy, vulnerability, and safety. In warmer climates or areas with dense wildlife, the boundary between nature and human living spaces isn’t as solid as we think. Heavy rains, seasonal floods, or extreme heat force snakes to search for dry shelter, cool water, or prey—and sometimes, those pathways lead straight through underground plumbing.
