Avery looked at them with a seriousness no five-year-old should have had.

“Not yet. His brothers aren’t here. Lily said I had to wait until they came.”

One paramedic glanced at Megan, worried.

Megan could only whisper, “I don’t know how she knows any of this.”

Then the sound came.

Not sirens.

Motorcycles.

Dozens of them.

The Brothers Arrive
The road filled with the deep rumble of engines. One by one, bikers pulled onto the shoulder, their faces tense.

The first man off his bike had BULLDOG stitched across his vest. The second wore a silver cross and the name PREACHER. Another tall man moved fast behind them, his vest marked KNOX.

Exactly the names Avery had said.

Bulldog ran down the slope, then stopped as soon as he saw the little girl in the pink dress.

His face went pale.

“Lily?” he whispered.

Avery looked up.

“My name is Avery.”

Bulldog’s eyes filled with tears.

Avery continued softly, “But Lily says her daddy still needs you.”

The injured biker’s name was Wade “Iron” Callahan. Three years earlier, his young daughter Lily had passed away after a long illness. She had been the heart of their biker family.

After Lily was gone, Wade had grown quiet. His brothers still rode with him, but everyone knew a part of him had never fully come back.

Now, beside that road, a little girl who had never met him knew Lily’s favorite song, his friends’ road names, and the blood type that could help save him.

The Promise Avery Kept
Bulldog dropped to his knees beside Wade.

“We’re here, brother,” he said, voice breaking. “You hear me? We’re all here.”

Wade’s eyes opened just enough to find Avery.

His lips barely moved.

“Lily?”

Avery smiled gently.

“She says she never left you.”

The paramedics finally lifted Wade onto the stretcher. This time, Avery let go.

Her small hands were trembling. Her pink dress was dirty. Her face was wet with tears.

Megan wrapped her arms around her daughter.

“How did you know?” she whispered.

Avery leaned against her mother and looked toward the ambulance.
