A Mother Thought Her Five-Year-Old Daughter Was Just Imagining Things During the Drive Home From Preschool …

The Little Girl Who Would Not Let Go
Five-year-old Avery Collins was riding home from preschool with her mother on a quiet back road outside Franklin, Tennessee, when she suddenly began crying in the back seat.

Her mother, Megan Collins, thought Avery was tired. It had been a long school day, and Avery was still wearing her pink princess dress from class costume day.

But then Avery pointed toward the trees beside the road and shouted, “Mommy, stop! The man with the motorcycle needs help!”

Megan slowed the car, confused. She saw no crash, no broken glass, no one waving for help.

But Avery kept crying.

“Please, Mommy! He’s down there. The bearded man. He can’t wait.”

Megan pulled onto the shoulder only to calm her daughter. But the moment the car stopped, Avery unbuckled herself and ran toward the slope.

Megan followed, calling her name.

Then she looked down.

At the bottom of the ditch lay a large biker in a leather vest, his motorcycle damaged several yards away. He was barely moving.

A Child Who Somehow Knew What To Do

Megan froze for half a second, then grabbed her phone and called 911.

But Avery had already climbed down the muddy slope.

She knelt beside the man as if someone had taught her exactly where to place her tiny hands. She pressed firmly against his chest and leaned close to his face.

“Stay with me,” Avery whispered. “Your brothers are coming.”

Megan could hardly breathe.

“Avery, honey, move back. The ambulance is coming.”

But Avery shook her head.

“No. I have to hold this spot. Lily told me.”

Megan stared at her daughter.

“Who is Lily?”

Avery did not look up.

“His little girl. She came in my dream last night.”

Megan thought her child was scared and confused. But then Avery said something that made her blood run cold.

“Tell them he needs O negative blood. And tell Bulldog, Preacher, and Knox to hurry.”

Megan had no idea who those people were.

The Song Beside The Road

Cars began stopping. A few strangers hurried down the slope, but Avery refused to move.

She stayed beside the injured biker, pressing her small hands where they needed to be, singing softly through tears.

“Twinkle, twinkle, little star…”

The biker’s eyes fluttered once.

Avery smiled through her tears.

“That’s right. Lily said you would hear it.”

When the paramedics arrived, they tried to move Avery gently.
